Technological progress in fishing and increasing demand have resulted in large quantites of fish requiring quick processing. Even on factory ships, many tasks which were performed manually have been mechanized to speed up the process.
During processing, fish waste is prepared for fish meal plants on board or on shore. The pumps required for this activity are exposed to especially harsh and difficult conditions. NEMO® pumps have been specified for many fish processing factories which produce fish meal, fish oil, canned fish and filleted fish over many years.
The material consistency is a main determining factor in pump selection. Industrial pumps are appropriate for materials with low viscosity like fish oil, fish press water and blood water. Higher viscosity materials, like chopped fish, are better managed by using a hopper pump. Even waste products are easily fed into the rotor-stator system by screw conveyers on the coupling rod.
On the sanitary side, NEMO® sanitary or aseptic pump designs are available to meet strict "clean" requirements.
